PROGRAMME CHANGE
…or The “Not a Competition” Competition!
We don’t get many chances to talk together about our photos in the club and pick up ideas as to how to improve our photography: this meeting will give us this in a variation on what longer-standing members will remember as the popular Enprint Competition (last held in 2004). We hope you will come and enjoy what we fully expect to be a lively evening: if it proves popular, we will make it a regular feature in our programme.
Format of the evening:
Please bring up to half a dozen prints (any size, any age, mounted or unmounted). The first half of this informal evening we will spend in small groups, each led by an experienced member who will provoke a lively discussion about composition and technique of as many of the pictures time allows. At the end of the first half, the group will choose three or four for presentation (anonymously!) by the group leader to the whole club in the second half. The selected pictures will be on display during the tea break. At the end of the evening we will all be judges and vote for the best picture of the evening: a bottle of wine will go to the winning photographer!
Judge: Jim Hartje. Max 2 sets, each comprising 5 individually mounted prints numbered in viewing order from left to right. Less than 2 years old. None entered in this competition before and no more than 2 in each set entered in any previous internal competition (except set subject). Sets to demonstrate a wide range of techniques and subject matter.
PROGRAMME CHANGE: In place of the originally advertised speaker, we will be pleased to welcome Arthur Ash, ARPS. Arthur is a relatively new speaker on the EAF circuit and will be giving us his print lecture: Part One of China. From Shanghai to Beijing going through villages - entering into working class homes. Travelling down the Li river from Guilin to Yangshuo fishing villages.
By popular demand - a practical lesson in camera handling. Bring your camera along.
Judge: Eric Saul. Max 4 mounted prints, each less than 2 years old. None entered in this competition before and no more than 2 entered in any previous internal competition (except Set Subject).*
